All the Tata Docomo subscribers, especially the Photon (Internet device) users were refreshing their connection again and again to connect their device to internet, but the massage appears "Error 678: The remote computer did not respond.' "I firstly got confused when I connected my Tata Photon device on my computer and it wasn't connected, then I realized that it has finally closed its operations in the State as per the media reports," Sahil Khajuria, a businessman said. "It was the most reliable internet provider I had ever used, I am confused which telecom's connection should I choose, which can give me that much speed and connectivity," he added. Ayesha Mahajan, a student said, "My Photon device has became a show piece from today, as it doesn't work but I still can not through it out as I had spent Rs. 1500 on it." "The company should reimburse atleast the cost of the device, which they had sold us as one time purchase; I wonder what I should do with this device, if it doesn't work," she added. The company had withdrawn its bid for spectrum allocation for Jammu and Kashmir. The Company's officials term the cause behind its winding up from Jammu and Kashmir as losing its three licenses in the regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and North-East, when the Supreme Court quashed 122 licenses issued by former Telecom Minister A Raja in the infamous 2G scam. The license was required to be updated by November 12, 2012 by getting spectrum, which it had failed to do and now the company shuts its services in J&K from Saturday morning. The company had launched its operation in J&K in 2008. Executives close to TATA said the company was of the view that it was not viable to secure CDMA airwaves in the three regions at the current reserve price terming them "perpetually loss-making circles and there is no business case." However, a distributor said, "the Company was doing a good business in the State and the turnover was also quite good, but the decision has come as a surprise to us." The company's employees working in the State were served with three month notices in November, after which their services shall be deemed to have been terminated. "We were intimated through e-mail that our services will be terminated after January as the company has stopped its operation in the State," said an employee wishing anonymity. |
