Rajouri, Jan 23: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Saugat Biswas inaugurated sports facilities in schools of border areas of Rajouri. A Volley Ball court was inaugurated at Govt Middle School Chowki Handen and Basket Ball Court at Government High School, Nonial both in Nowshera. The DDC informed that the move was a departure from the earlier practice of developing playfields at a relatively higher cost. "We have done an extensive exercise across the district and identified schools that require specific sports infrastructure or playgrounds for specific games. In the present phase we are creating facilities for Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Kho-Kho and also Table Tennis, as per demand and availability of space" said Biswas. "The idea is to encourage students to play specific games so that they can excel in particular fields" he added. The DDC informed that in the present phase more than thirty schools have been covered, and they have been allocated with funds for the purpose. He further informed that with a view to ensuring adherence to quality the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nowshera Dr Rajinder Khajuria has been designated as the nodal officer for monitoring execution of the works across the district. The sports facilities are in the process of completion and will be given out to the students shortly he said. During the inauguration functions SDM Nowshera, Dr. Rajinder Khajuria, Addl. SP., Nowshera, Purshotan Sharma, were present besides Deputy Chief Education Officer, Nowshera, Tehsildar Nowshera and all other officers of education department, Sarpanches ,Panches and all prominent citizens of the area. The public in general & students in particular conveyed their gratitude to the district administration for creating such sports facilities in such far flung areas.
