JAMMU, Jan 23: In an effort to spread the message of voluntary blood donation, the Post Graduate Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College, Jammu today organized a blood donation camp.
On the occasion a large number of Consultants, Registrars, Post Graduates from the Department of Medicine and Blood Bank donated blood.
Beside others, the Head of Department, Blood Transfusion Medicine, Dr Vijay Sawhney also donated blood.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sawhney emphasized the need of organizing such small camps by doctors and other professionals on regular basis so that the awareness about voluntary blood donation among the common masses could be spread.
This will not only help in fulfilling the blood requirements of needy people but also be the source of inspiration for others and at the same time could motivate them, he added.
A number of attendants who had come to the Department to get blood without replacement understood the need of voluntary blood donation and pledged to donate blood on regular basis. |
