| JKNPP's district president joins PDP | | | early times report Srinagar, Jan. 23 (KNS): Girls continue to outshine boys as they dominated the merit list in the class 12 examinations in Kashmir whose results were declared on Tuesday. In Science stream, seven female students figured in among ten toppers while girls have dominated first ten top positions in Commerce stream and six out of ten in Arts stream. 52,268 students had appeared in the annual examination of class 12th last out of which 30, 814 were declared qualified recording an overall pass percentage of 59 per cent. Amarah Wani of Iqbal Memorial Higher Secondary School under roll number 828202 was declared topper with 490 marks in Science stream. In Commerce stream, Rahilla Hafeez of Higer SecondarySchool Dalnah Baramullah obtained 483 marks under roll number 3113250 making her topper in her stream while Sana Safeeq of Government Girls Higher Secondary Kothi bagh topped in her stream with 97.8 per cent. Asma shakeel of Jamatul Banaat Lal Bazar School appeared as topper in Home Science getting 98 per cent. "The examinations of class 12th were held from 17th October to 14th November and the results were prepared within two months to declare. The results of government institutions are better this year when we compare it with 2011-12", said SBOSE public Information Officer Showkat Osman. The first three positions were shared by girls and most of the positions in every subject have been dominated by girls, said officials. The result continues the recent trend of girls outperforming boys in most board and competitive examinations. |
