Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: Trade Unions have reviewed preparedness of state level convention to ensure success of two days all India general strikes, which is scheduled on February 20-21, here today. As per press release, the meeting was convened by Raghubir Singh, General Secretary of INTUC. Besides holding joint convention it was also decided to start wide spread campaign at each workplace among toiling masses and for this purpose, shall leave no stone unturned in carrying the preparatory campaign to make the general strike a resounding success throughout the state. He informed, "The call for countrywide two days general strike is to press for the ten point charter of demands, curb price rise & Universalisation of Public Distribution System, Job Protection, Enforcement of labour laws, Social Security for Un-organised Workers, stoppage of Disinvestment in PSUs, Minimum Wages, Pension for all, Equal Wages and Benefits to the Contract Workers, Ensuring the Right to Organisation and Collective Bargaining, Removal of Ceiling of Bonus, ESI, Gratuity, Compulsory Registration of Trade unions within a period of 45 days and ratification of ILO Convention No.87 and 98." In the meeting representative including INTUC, AITUC, CITU and other independent all India federations like Insurance and Banking Sectors were present. It was unanimously decided to hold one day joint state level convention at Jammu on 7th February. |
