| Pakistani desperate plan to destabilise India | | Rs 5 lakh for beheading Indian soldier | | Rustam JAMMU, Jan 25: Pakistan, which has been trying to internationalise the January 8 Mendhar barbarous act that left two Indian soldiers dead and two others injured and which also resulted in the beheading of one of the martyred Indian soldier Hem Raj, might escalate tensions at the India-Pakistan border and Line of Control (LoC) by indulging in acts similar to the one it indulged in on January 8. An intelligence memo, a copy of which is in the possession of one leading Indian private TV news channel, clearly indicates the Pakistani desperation to "roil India". The memo also indicates that Pakistan has not been able to recruit persons who could help it to implement its destabilise-and bleed-India-plan. "A meeting of senior ISI officials and prominent terrorist commanders took place in Sialkot in Pakistan in mid January this year. The meet was presided over by ISI officers of brigadier level. It was reportedly decided to rope in the locals along the Line of Control along Jammu and Kashmir border," this is what the said news channel revealed yesterday evening in its prime time programme. The report also suggested that a similar meeting was held at Rawalakot in Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), which was presided over by a "brigadier" and attended, among others, by "Lashkar-e-Toiba commanders". The report suggested that Pakistan "no longer inspires freedom fighters" because they have turned "mercenaries". "Pakistan must pay terrorists it can no longer inspire freedom fighters as they are no more than mercenaries," the report said and added that "Pakistan terror is all about power and money, not for jihad". Not only this, the memo further suggested that the Pakistan dreaded spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) has been left with no other option but to enroll mercenaries so that it could destabilize and bleed India. "ISI starts paying for terror," the memo suggested, adding that the "price of terrorists (has been) set". What is the price the ISI, according to the intelligence memo, set? According to it, the ISI would pay "Rs 500,000" to a terrorist/mercenary for "beheading an Indian soldier", "Rs 10,000 for shooting an Indian soldier" and "Rs 5,000 for planting a mine". The said news channel needs to be patted for nailing the Pakistani role in sponsoring terror in India. However, it is extremely doubtful if those managing our relations with Pakistan will take cognizance of this startling report and take all precautionary measure calculated to defeat the Pakistani desperate plan to "roil" India. For, the Indian Foreign Office is controlled by a person who has been doing his level best to create an environment that helps Pakistan to walk free and not pay a price for the heinous crime it committed on January 8. This belief stems from the statement Salman Khurshid made on January 21 while downplaying Pakistan High Commissioner to India Salman Bashir's highly provocative and outrageous statement that what happened on the LoC on January 8 was a domestic issue (read Indian Army killed and mutilated its own soldiers and beheaded Hem Raj). Instead of tearing into and warning Bashir, Khurshid had said: "I would simply say, we should not react to every comment. I don't think that every statement made in the domestic context should necessarily be treated as the last word". However, the silver-lining is that we have the institution of Army intact. There is no doubt whatever that the Indian Army will take care of Pakistan and retaliate with full force in case Pakistan tries to implement what the report termed as its "desperate plan to roil India". |
