| Sham pays rich tributes to Sant Gurbax Singh, asks people to follow teachings of religious saints | | | early times report
JAMMU, Feb 10 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the people to follow the teachings of great gurus and saints for the betterment of the society. He said many evils are overshadowing the rich ethos of our society and need of the hour is to work together to fight against such evils and to bring a social reforms in the society. Addressing a large gathering of Sikh Sanghat at Domana which gathered to observe the death anniversary of prominent Sikh leader Sant Gurbax Singh, near here today, the minister said that every religion teaches promoting peace, love, mutual brotherhood and service to the mankind. Our religious Saints and Gurus have also spread the message of serving the mankind and helping the needy in whatever form, therefore, we must adopt their teachings for the development of the mankind and betterment of the society. He said teachings of saints and Gurus are still relevant in our society and we must percolate these amongst the younger generation so that they also contribute for the development of the society. Paying rich tributes to Saint Gurbax Singh, the Minster said that this religious personality throughout his life worked for the service of the mankind and inspired others to render selfless services to the society. His contribution is commendable and people from all walks of life, especially the Sikh brethren will carry it forward and fulfill his unfinished tasks. On the occasion, Sant Tejwant Singh, grandson of Sant Gurbax Singh felicitated the Minister and other prominent Sikh figures. The community had also arranged Guru-ka-Langer and special Gurbani path. A large number of people from different parts of Jammu participated in the congregation. |
