| NC disowns political advisor Goni | | 8 "He is neither party's rep, nor spokesman" JKNC tweets | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 10 : Piqued by the utterances of Political advisor to the NC president Aslam Goni on national television channels on the sensitive Afzal Guru Hanging case, the national conference today disowned the former advocate general. Party's posting on social networking site Twitter read, " Goni was neither the representative of the party and nor its spokesman. If he or anyone else goes on airing their views on Afzal Guru issue, they should be taken as their own and not as the party's stand". Sources within the party divulge that distances between Omar and former Advocate General came to the fore openly following infamous JKCA scam wherein Omar reportedly blamed Goni for all the mess as it was he who ran JKCA affairs in the absence of Dr. Abdullah. Goni has been offered a cold shoulder by the party as the room allocated to him as political advisor has now been occupied by the provincial president. Moreover, Goni is conspicuous by his absence in NC's political functions. JKCA president has also openly shown his displeasure to Goni. In the last working committee meeting of JKCA at Srinagar chaired by Dr. Farooq Abdullah , Goni was not allowed inside the stadium premises. Goni however managed to be on five committees of BCCI when JKCA president was abroad at the time of BCCI's AGM. It has been reliably learnt that attempts of truce between Omar and Aslam initiated by senior NC leader and Minister from Kashmir have failed and Goni faces Uncertain political future. Goni lost two Assembly elections on NC ticket in 2002 and 2008. He however continues to enjoy perks and security admissible to political advisor. His Chances to join PDP have also been sealed after his arch rival from Bhaderwah, former bureaucrat Mehboob Iqbal boarded the PDP bandwagon before him. |
