| JKSA organizes 'Ved Gyan Saptah' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 10: J&K Sanskrit Academy (JKSA) has organized 'Ved Gyan Saptah' in collaboration with Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Shwavidyalaya Pratishthan, Ujjain. The inaugural programme was conducted yesterday in Sanatan Dharam Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya, Jullaka Mohalla wherein Dr. Pratibha, Asstt. Prof. P.G. Deptt. Of Sanskrit, University of Jammu delivered a lecture on "Importance of Vedas in Modern Age". In her lecture, Dr Pratibha stressed upon the students for teaching lesson of moral education, brotherhood, style of humanity and different kinds of knowledge from Vedas as they have mass storage of information. Vedas are the most ancient of the Indian religious scriptures. The mainstream Hinduism revolves around the Vedic thought and philosophy, although it is influenced by all the various schools of thought and philosophy that have grown subsequently, she added. She said that it will not be wrong to perceive Vedas as the earliest compositions of the very ancient human civilization that was attempting to find its roots, rules and values. The fact that Vedas were communicated by god is just a reflection of their evolution from the awareness about our own self and the universe. On the second day of the programme, a lecture on the topic 'Relevance of Vedas in Modern Times', was conducted in the premises of Brahmrishi Vishwatama Bawra Shanti Vidyapeeth, Udhampur, today. Delivering the lecture, Ved P Sharma (TGT Sanskrit), Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sunjuwan said that India has a rich heritage of profound knowledge of physical as well as spiritual sciences. All this is inscribed in the voluminous literature written in Vedic Sanskrit and Classical Sanskrit and dating back several thousands of years from today, he added.
