| Kanuyian Club wins inaugural T20 tie | | | early times report
POONCH, Feb 10: Kanuyian Cricket Club (KCC) won the inaugural match of the Twenty20 Cricket Tournament after they registered a 31 runs win over Chandak Club here today. The event is being organised by Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club. Batting first, KCC set a target of 152 runs for the loss of seven wickets, which, in reply, Chandak Club could not chase and bowled out for 120 runs in 19.2 overs. Lovely remained the top scorer with 42 runs while Nisar contributed 23. From Chandak Club, Bali took three wickets for 32 runs. Later, Chandak Club lost all their wickets for 120 runs in 19.2 overs to lose the match by 31 runs. Imtiaz and Mukhtar were main scorers with 24 and 17 runs in their respective accounts. From KCC, Zahid was most successful bowler with three wickets. Earlier, the tournament, wherein 26 teams are taking part on knock-out basis, was declared open by Minister for Forest, Mian Altaf. He appreciated Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club for holding sports events in various disciplines thus extending the youth of the district a platform to excel. District Development Commissioner, A K Sahu and SSP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain were among those prominent present. Earlier, chairman of the Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club, Mohd Tariq Khan informed that different events were organised by the Club with an aim to channelize the energy of youth in sports activities thus making them disciplined. Pardeep Khanna also highlighted the activities of Club. |
