Jora reviews functioning of JDA

Jammu, Feb 12 : Minister for Urban development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, on Tuesday assessed the functioning of Jammu Development Authority and the pace of progress on several ongoing projects.
Jora directed the concerned officers to compete all the pending projects within the stipulated time besides asking them to handover the projects completed by JDA to JMC.
The Minister discussed Jammu Master Plan 2021 which is in its final stage of completion. He exhorted the concerned to lay emphasis on better and efficient railroad network, strengthening of facilities like health, education, housing, sewage, drainage and other basic public utilities in the proposed plan.
Vice Chairman, JDA, Sarita Chouhan, through a power point presentation, informed the Minister about the targets and achievements of the authority, revision of Jammu Master Plan, salient features of draft master plan 2021, demarcation of land, land retrieved from encroachers during 2012-13, construction of new bus terminals, new proposed projects, parking slots, housing colonies and financial status of the authority besides e-governance, online building permission like facilities being provided to the common people. The Minister was informed that office block at Narwal is coming up at a cost of Rs. 584 lakh against which Rs. 80 lakh stands utilized on the project till date. Besides, a media house is being established at a cost of Rs. 830.7 lakh at Bahu Plaza. It was also informed that 1721 kanal of land has been retrieved from encroachers during the current year. The Vice Chairperson further said that Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries Complex is being constructed with Rs. 1065 lakh and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
The meeting was also informed that Trikuta Nagar park is being developed at an area of 42 kanals of land for facilitating the locals and the surrounding areas.
Likewise, a bus terminal has been constructed at Khanpur with a capacity for 151 buses, one night shelter, public toilet and 37 workshops but the project has not been commissioned yet. Besides, one transitional interstate bus terminal at Narwal has been constructed with facilities for idle bus parking, public toilet, passenger stands, private car parking and other facilities. She also informed the meeting about the new projects in the pipeline of JDA including modernization/ development of multi-tier parking and general bus stand Jammu, multitier parking at city chowk (Super-bazar), group housing colonies at Nagrota.
Among others the meeting was attended by heads of various wings of the department.
