Jammu, Feb 12 : Police have achieved success by apprehending a wanted smuggler who was absconding and evading his arrest for quite some time.
The absconding smuggler who was apprehended by the Police has been identified as Devi Singh son of Ravail Singh of Rattanpur, Badwahni, Tehsil Akhoor, District Jammu.
A Motorcycle No JK02P-6824 (Splendor) was also recovered from his possession.
The accused was wanted in case FIR No.225/2012 u/s 489/RPC, P/S R.S Pura besides he was also a History sheeter of P/S Akhnoor where a FIR No.84/1996 u/s 9-A/25-A/NDPS Act was registered.
In another case for which Devi Singh was evading arrest, a FIR No.12/2010 u/s 8/21/22/NDPS Act was registered at P/S Khour against him, Yashpal and Arjun (both smugglers).
The case was registered against the trio for smuggling of 14 kgs of heroin, present cost of which in the international market is around Rs 20 crores.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the 130th Absconder, which has been apprehended by the special team in the drive launched under the supervision of SP Hqrs Jammu, Shailender Singh. Further investigation is going on. |
