Rajouri, Feb 14 : An armed intruder was killed while an Indian army Jawan was injured in fierce encounter during an infiltration bid on Indian forward post Lam in Nowshera of border district Rajouri here today. Meanwhile a huge warlike store was recovered from a hideout busted in general forest area of Kalakote of Rajouri district
Reports said, an Infiltration attempt by a group of suspected armed intruders was foiled by the alert army troops deployed on the line of control in Lam Sector of Nowshera by Army troops deployed on the Line of Control (LoC), in the Lam Sector in Nowshera here afternoon at around 1430 hours today. Defence sources said that after noticing the intruders movements, the Indian troops asked them to halt but the call of halt was denied and intruders opened indiscriminate fire on troops which was equally retaliated by the troops manning the LoC. During the fierce encounter one terrorist was killed at 1720 hours today, they added.
However, One AK-47 rifle was recovered from the slain terrorist who was in combat dress meanwhile injured Jawan was immediately evacuated to Command Hospital, Udhampur. The Condition of the individual is stable. The operation was still under progress when the reports last came in.
Reliable sources in intelligence agency said that unidentified killed person could be a Pakistan army regular in the guise of militant tried to attempt a BAT action once again like Krishna Ghati Sector in which two Indian soldiers were brutally killed and were later mutilated their bodies. Meanwhile in another anti insurgency operation based on specific intelligence inputs from unit sources a joint column of Rashtriya Rifles, Territorial Army unit and police launched a search operation today in general area Saroti Forest of Kalakote of Rajouri district and busted a hideout.
"A large quantity of warlike stores including 168 rounds ammunition AK-47, 2 magazine AK-47, 11 electrical detonator (Destroyed in situ), 500 grams explosive (Destroyed in situ), 1 Chinese Grenade (Destroyed in situ), 1 UBGL Grenade (Destroyed in situ), 1 IED Circuit and 1 small Binocular (Posco) was recovered, sources said.
