Jammu, Feb 17: Demanding opening of degree college at Majalta, the activists of National Secular Forum on Sunday staged protest at Manwal, against government. As per press release, the protesting activists raised slogans against the state government for delay in opening of degree college at Majalta. Addressing the protesters, State Vice President Sukdev Singh said that Majalta was located about 48 kilometers from Udhampur, forcing the students of Majalta tehsil, to either go to Udhampur or Samba for higher studies. "I do not know what the criteria of opening a degree college are. Colleges have been sanctioned in some areas where only two or three higher secondary schools function while as in Majalta belt there are as many as 10 plus two schools," argued Singh, adding, "population of this belt have been facing step-motherly treatment for so many years." |
