| Police busts fake appointment letters racket | | | early times report Rajouri, Feb 23: In a major break through Rajouri police have arrested a person who has been issuing fake appointment letters after charging huge amounts from unemployed youth. The matter came into the notice of police in the month of October,2012 when a victim had lodged a complaint (FIR 507/2012) with the police that he had been issued an appointment letter signed by the DGP as a cook to be appointed in the district police lines Rajouri. The victim identified as Javed had informed the Rajouri police that one Sheraz Ahemad of Sanjyot village in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district had issued the fake appointment letter after charging a huge amount. Rajouri police reportedly raided the house of the accused several times but he could not be arrested. Few days ago on some specific inputs police arrested Shehraz from his hide out and brought him to Rajouri. During sustained interrogation he disclosed that he had issued some fake appointment letters and also driving licences. On his disclosure police have recovered some fake stamps including of ARTO, Poonch and Rs 40,000 from his possession which he had taken from a youth to issue a fake appointment letter.' The accused is under interrogation and more recoveries of cash and fake appointment letters and stamps are expected in the future" said Varinder Gupta, SHO Rajouri. |
