| Available funds Rs 92 Cr 40 lakhs; spent 238 Cr 5 lakhs! | | Can Panchayati Raj Minister explain? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 23: An advertisement issued by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj makes an interesting read. The advertisement says: Swranjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY) is a self employment scheme for generating the avenues of self employment in rural areas by augmenting the income of village people. This programme has brought economic revolution in rural areas especially womenfolk have been benefited and has helped them in self sustenance." Interestingly the concerned department has spent more than twice the amount that was available to it. The advertisement says available funds during four years i.e. ending December 2012 were Rs 92 Crores and 40 lakhs. The advertisement then gives the details of expenditure as expenditure incurred during the period ending December 2012 Rs 55 Crores and 28 lakhs, Credit disbursed ending December 2012 Rs 146 Crores and 26 lakhs and 26837 Self Help Groups were assisted during the period and subsidy disbursed Rs 36 Crore and 51 lakhs. When the figures are added it gives a whooping Rs 238 Crores and 05 lakhs. This is more than twice the amount that was available under the scheme. Will the concerned Minister do some explaining? |
