| Apprehensive, Omar, Soz discuss strategy | | BJP to support Dudha in LC polls…? | | Jammu: With apprehensions of opposition getting united on one of the candidates who filed papers in independent capacity from Kashmir, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Pradesh Congress Chief Saifuddin Soz met here today to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Legislative Council elections in the state. Shiban Dudha, who filed nomination with PDP's support is all set to get the party support besides the votes of PDF president Mohammad Hakim Yasin and CPM legislator MY Tarigami . However, what is worrying NC and Congress is the prospect of BJP MLAs too favouring Dudha during the elections which are slated for March 7. PCC President Saifuddin Soz and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had an hour long meeting at the latter's residence, soon after Soz arrived here today after concluding his Delhi visit. "The leaders of ruling allies discussed strategy to be followed by them during the course of voting for LC elections", said Congress leader. The two have also decided to hold a meeting of the legislature party of the coalition on March 6. Even as both Congress and NC are assured of easy victory on three seats as per the electoral college of votes, the apprehensions are looming large about Dudha marring the prospects of coalition on one seat. It all depends on how the main group of 4 legislators of BJP and the group of 7 led by Prof CHaman Lal Gupta would conduct themselves during the voting which would determine the decisions in favour or against the prospects of Dudha. Even as there is no possibility of cross voting on account of the amendment brought last year that paves way for open voting , the fear of legislators not supporting their own candidates is there, said a sources. However, the parties would issue formal whip ahead of the elections. As for Jammu seats, coalition has already bagged two seats that of Rani Bloeria and Devidner Singh Rana while the third one of Doda is also all set to be won by Naresh Gupta, Congress candidate. |
