PDP's master stroke leaves BJP, NC in catch-22 situation!

Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 23: A smart move by Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) of supporting an Independent candidate belonging to Kashmiri Pandit community, contesting election of Legislative Council from Kashmir division, has left BJP as well as ruling NC in catch-22 situation.
The Independent candidate in question has been supported by Peoples' Democratic Forum (PDF) headed by former Minister and sitting Legislator Hakim Yaseen.
Officially, State unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has announced to abstain from voting in the ongoing elections to eight vacant seats in Legislative Council. However, the seven expelled Legislators of BJP have decided that Legislators are at their free will whether to vote or abstain.
"But, the significant political move by PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of extending party's support to an Independent candidate from Kashmiri Pandit community Shiban Krishen Dudha has virtually cornered his rivals including ruling NC-Congress coalition as well as BJP," opined political observers that further added that, "PDP has managed to enter into Kashmiri Pandit flock, which contains deciding factor in few seats of Kashmir valley."
Earlier, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed extended party mandate to a Hindu as well as PoK refugee face Yashpal Sharma from Jammu region. He emerged victorious along with one candidate each of NC and Congress as there was no contest.
"Again, by playing a master stroke in Kashmir valley by supporting Kashmiri Pandit face, Mufti Sayeed has left the ruling coalition's and especially one of the NC's candidates in trouble as the PDP's move has literally shaken the number game of voting," shared political observers and further expressed that "though PDP, Congress and NC will manage to bag one seat each in Kashmir valley but it is not that easy for coalition to secure one out of the two seats on which NC has fielded its candidate. It appears NC is on a sticky wicket."
The decision of PDP has also cornered BJP, which has always supported Kashmir Pandit migrants' cause. As party's State unit have decided to abstain from voting, various Kashmiri Pandit organizations has started mounting pressure on senior BJP leaders to review its decision and support Kashmiri Pandit candidate. Insiders in BJP disclosed that a delegation of KP community has also approached BJP national president Rajnath Singh to muster party's support in favour of independent candidate Shiban Krishen Dudha.
"The PDP's move has earned appreciation and soft corner among a section of Kashmiri Pandit community as earlier the said community had a feeling for PDP of only protecting and projecting the cause of Kashmiris living in Valley," shared political observers and added that "whether Shiban Krishan Dudha wins or loses but the decision of PDP will yield some of the gains in Assembly polls of 2014".
