| Roots of terror must be hit: Prof Gupta | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 23: Conde-mning the acts of terror in Hyderabad claiming several innocent lives and injuries to many others, the former union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that such inhumane behavior is the Outcome of the moves of communally discased minds operating under frustration, but the men in authority cannot be absolved of their failure to perform and deal with the menace. In a statement, Prof. Gupta said after the hanging of Afzal Guru the danger for such acts was obvious but the blasts of Hyderabad indicate the necessary precautionary measures were lacking sight and the Government at the centre must have a deep look into their functioning. He regretted because of political considerations the Government approach to tackle the menace of terror was always unrealistic. The roots of terror must be hit, which of course are across the borders. Prof. Gupta questioned that why POTA was put under the carpet and number of cases registered under this law were shelved. In this regard he recalled that over 400 such cases were registered in Jammu and Kashmir alone but what was their fate, is any body's guess although some of these pertained to most heinous crimes. He stressed for mounting the vigil and muster the courage to hit at the roots of the problem as otherwise mere statements and loud talking would not have the tangible results. |
