ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 4 : MIER College of Education on Monday organized a guest lecture on the theme "Career in the field of education with special emphasis on NET/JRF Examination". Dr Vivek Sharma, Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu was the key resource person while Dr. Adit Gupta, vice principal welcomed the resource person , Dr.Annie Kaul, Director of the College was also present on the occasion. In his address to students pursuing Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) and Masters of Education (M.Ed), Dr. Sharma deliberated on recent trends in education sector in India and across the world and briefed the participants about relevance of M.Ed course in the present scenario. He also enlightened the students about various career options available to them and highlighted the importance of M.Ed course for the students aspiring to become teachers in their life. He added that educational institutions were looking for the best quality of teaching and administrative staff in order to deliver a product par excellence to the students. He spoke on some key areas including 'education an ever-growing field', 'education field is relatively far more stable and consistent compared to several other fields', 'the doors of opportunity for candidates in various areas for a career such as a teacher, educationist, administrative leader, special education teacher and educational consultant', and high job satisfaction levels among such candidates'. Later, he also presented awards to the students who qualified the NET and JRF examination conducted by the UGC and emphasised upon the need to qualify the NET/JRF examination to achieve success in the field of higher education. Manisha Sharma presented vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to Dr Sharma for his thought provoking lecture on the vital issue of higher education. |
