JAMMU, Mar 4: War of words broke out between Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma and BJP member Ashok Khajuria in the legislative assembly during the discussion on motion of thanks on Governor's address today.
While speaking on Governor's address, Ashok Khajuria said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is good human being but the other people (referring towards congress party) are misguiding him and congress is responsible for the present situation.
On hearing this congress party members stood on their seats and expressed resentment over Khajuiria's remarks.
Sham Lal lashed out at Khajuria and said, "He should not behave like this. Congress is 125 year old party. We have got independence to the country. Do not use unparliamentarily language here".
Khajuria said, "I am just narrating the truth, Congress party is responsible for the present turmoil".
Another congress party member Mohd. Sharif Naiz also criticized Khajuria and said, "Stick your speech to the governors address only". He took strong exception on dragging the name of Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad.
Earlier while speaking on rehabilitation of Doda migrants, Wani asked Khajuira why are you raking the issue of Doda migrants, on this Khajura mocked, "Aap Doda Waloon par tou, Gulam Nabi Azad ki meherbane hai".
Sham further pointed out, "No need to create drama in the house. If you want to create road side drama, please go to City Chowk and conduct your show".
Naiz also accused BJP for the murder of Mahatma Gandhi.
Earlier Khajuria sought early settlement of PoK refugees' issues and review of present recruitment policy. He urged the Government to take concrete steps to ensure peace, which is pre-requisite for development.
Meanwhile congress members disrupted Panthers Party member Balwant Singh Mankotia during his reply on governor's address.
Naiz expressed displeasure when Makotia pointed out that despite congress party's manifesto, party has failed to constitute 'delimitation commission'.
Makotia said, "I want to remind even after the lapse of four years since the formation of alliance government, no congress leader has uttered even once regarding the constitution of delimitation commission".
On this Naiz said, "As we are not in a majority so party was not able to take up the issue. We lost number of seats due to 'Bam-Bam bhole'. Moreover it was during the NDA regime that a resolution was passed in the parliament that there will be delimitation of constituencies till 2024".
Another member Jagdish Raj Sapolia castigated Naiz for raking up the 'Bam-Bam bhole' and questioned whose government is in the state anyway? and said that you(congress) bring the resolution and we will support it then.
Makotia again took a dig at the present dispensation and said, "Being in coalition, why you were not able to chalk out a common minimum programme. Government should fulfil the commitments made with the people at the time of elections and suggested the Government to discontinue with the practice of Darbar Move to avoid unnecessary expenditure which can be utilized for the development purposes as also the system will help the people of both the regions".
Ch. Sukhnandan said that there is no mention for the welfare of farmers which constitutes 80 per cent in the State. He demanded timely fertilizer, seeds and adequate marketing facilities for the farmers across the Jammu division.
Ashok Kumar, T. Namgyal, Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie and Master Lal Chand also spoke on the governors address.
Discussion on Governor's address would continue tomorrow.
