| Baig's frontal attack: Omar is an insult to people of J&K | | 'CM's position no less than a daily wager….' | | ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 4: In a frontal attack over Afzal Guru hanging issue, senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig today accused the Chief Minister of having lowered the prestige and value of his position by not resisting or contesting the decision of the Central Government. Baig even said that by conducting himself the way as to protect his chair and in a bid not to displease New Delhi, Omar Abdullah had brought disrepute to the chair of Chief Minister. Hitting hard, Baig said Omar Abdullah was an insult to the people of J&K as he has behaved in a way that speaks of his position of no less than a daily wager. "Omar Abdullah must look into the mirror……who are you……what are you…….you are no less than a third grade daily wager…", Baig said while speaking to media targeting Chief Minister for not having contested the decision of execution in strong manner with all quarters that matter. Targeting further, the PDP leader questioned sarcastically as to why it happens that all hangings take place when NC rules the State. "No Chief Minister, not even Ghulam Nabi Azad would have allowed it to happen as he too knows well the sensitivities in J&K. It is none other than some one belonging to Sheikh family who would have allowed the execution of Afzal Guru ", Baig said hitting NC for having ignored the implications on the political and psychological fronts of Kashmir. "The Sheikh family has been given the job of hangman exclusively as is established by the execution of Afzal and before him Maqbool Bhat", Baig said sarcastically. PDP's senior leader , who spit venom against NC and Chief Minister after he was not allowed to speak inside the House, further attacked with questions as to why Omar did not contest the decision with Prime Minister, President of India or UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who, he said is seen to be against the hangings as she herself was not in favour of so with the killers of her husband. "Now that Afzal Guru is dead, Omar Abdullah has been pleading guilty and even regretting of certain blunders having been committed….why is saying so in interviews with TV channels ….", Baig questioned adding that "our CM now says Guru's hanging is a selective decision ….did he imply that Congress led Government had proceeded on communal considerations or vote bank …is this the message he wants to give now …? Referring to the process which culminated in Afzal's hanging, Baig said it was not an execution but a murder. He said the Constitution of India and the Supreme Court's decisions of the subject had been blatantly violated and in particular Art 21 provisions were ignored . |
