| Rajouri witnesses violent protests | | Police nab two, more arrests expected | | | Rajouri, Mar 4 : Rajouri Police have arrested two trouble creators who had organised a violent protest against the district administration on Sunday which took ugly turn and police had to resorted to mild lathi charge and tear gas shelling near Muradpur village. 6 persons including Virinder Gupta , SHO were injured in the police public clash after the peaceful protest took ugly turn when some vested interests, anti-social, anti-national elements exploited the situation against police and district administration. The body of the youth identified as Mohd Tahir of village Phaliyan , who got drowned in the river while crossing it along with his four other colleagues on Friday evening. After the colleagues failed to save him they informed the police and people and search operation was launched with the help of fire brigade personnel. While briefing the media persons on Sunday, SSP said that the police have identified about six such anti social elements from Rajouri city, Muradpur and Badhoon. Out of which two were arrested during late night hours raids on Sunday from ward no. 8. They have been identified as Sameer Khan, government employee, and Sunny. "More suspects will be behind the bars soon as they have gone under ground. They have been booked under various sections including 353/429/147/148/336 RPC" said SSP. He further said that police also investigating the incident under other angles including,as suspected by some people, he might have been killed by his colleagues and buried some where else." All the four colleagues of the youth who informed about the drowning of their colleague have been rounded up by the police and are under sustain interrogation" said SSP. |
