| Home guards protest at Mubarak Mandi | | | ET Plus Report
Jammu, Mar 4: Demanding regularization of their services and enhancement of wages, a peaceful dharna of the J&K Home Guard Welfare Association was held at Mubarak Mandi Complex, Jammu. According to press release, president of Association said that the Home Guards in the State were being Rs.545/- per month whereas in the neighboring states counterparts were getting much higher emoluments. Citing the example of State of Punjab, she said that the Home Guards in Punjab are being about Rs. 13000/- per month. She further said that the Central Government is paying crores of rupees each year to the state government for reactivation of Home Guards but the most of the said amounts are used to meet the expenditure on the wages of Higher Officials and other miscellaneous expenditures. She said that the state government is neglecting the Home Guards and is not properly using the funds provided by the Central Government. She said that state government is denying even the minimum wages to the Home Guards and if the Home Guards raise their voice against the atrocities of the state government, they are selectively shunted out from the services for participating in the Dhanas/protests. She said that on one hand State government has expelled several home guards on the fake ground that there was no need of the said Home Guards, on the other hand government is making fresh recruitment of Home Guards. She demanded that all the home guards who have been disengaged forcibly should immediately be reengaged. She further said that the Home Guards are assigned duties at irregular intervals. She demanded that all the Home Guards should be assigned duties on daily basis. She said that the Home Guards who have crossed the age of 40 years are being forcibly and unreasonably disengaged. She expressed hope the Director General of Police Ashok Parsad shall sympathetically consider the genuine demands of the Home Guards and project the same before the State Government so that the atrocities being suffered by the Home Guards in the state of J&K are mitigated. |
