Jammu, Mar 4: Billawar Zila Andolan (BZA) today intensified campaign in various villages of Billawar tehsil with a demand for creating Billawar District. Spearheading two days campaign, the Convener of the BZA, Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate, addressed public meetings at villages Pallan, Parnalla, Seri, Palel, Dadwara, Mandli, Gurha Kalyal and Galak. He expressed anguish over the continued neglect of the Billawar, Bani and Basohli tehsils by the successive government. Having all ingredients for creation of district, the Sheikh Abdullah Government has been ignoring Billawar since 1978 when three new districts were created in Kashmir valley. He said, "Billawar, Bani and Basohli comprise the maximum geographical area whereas the district headquarter is located at the south-east corner touching Punjab and Pakistan. People of these areas have been suffering since centuries. Even the elected governments for 65 years have ignored their genuine concerns" he added. Jalmeria called upon the people to prepare for big fight on the issue. He was accompanied by Master Raghunath Singh, Bishan Dass Sharma, Ram Dhan Lalotra, Prem Singh Bhadwal, Hari Chand Miyan, Master Bhagwan Singh and other activist who have being fight to get district status for Billawar. |
