Jammu, Mar 4: JKNPP MLA Harsh Dev Singh on Monday lashed at the Omar Government saying that the police force has been disarmed in militancy-prone areas, resulting to killing of the cops. "Government is responsible for killing of these cops. They are to be blamed," he said.
Hash Dev stated this while speaking on the adjournment motion moved by Panthers Party to discuss the killing of two Indian Reserve Police personnel, who were massacred by militants in Handwara town of north Kashmir on March 2.
Hash Dev pointed out, "Two policemen -- Azad Chand and Santosh Singh -- were part of the law and order platoon of IRP carrying 'lathis'. Who gave an order to disarm them? Can they escape responsibility? Under which law they were disarmed?
Chaman Lal Gupta demanded jobs for the kin of deceased IRP jawans.
Even Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo admitted that cops were carrying non-lethal arms at the time of the attack.
BJP Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria said that cops have been made as sitting ducks for the target practice of militants. |
