Benia of J&K Police wins Shiv Khori dangal title

JAMMU, Mar 12: Benia of Jammu and Kashmir Police lifted the 15th Shiv Khori Kesari dangal title outplaying wrestler Parveen of Haryana in an easy fight that lasted for just three minutes at Government High School, Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori in Pouni block of district Reasi.
Winner Benia presented a cash prize of Rs 13,000 besides the title trophy of `Silver Gurj' while Parveen got Rs 12,000 in addition to other gifts.
In this day-long dangal, Tehsildar Reasi, RK Anand was chief guest while president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Assistant Commandant with CRPF, Rajinder Singh and retired lecturer, Mubarik Singh were guests of honour. Among others present were Paul Chand, Kewal Krishan, Swarn Singh, Shamsher Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Swarn Singh.
Dangal, which was part of the three-day Shiv Khori Mela, was organised by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department and Ransoo Dangal Committee. The event held under the overall supervision of president of the Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
In all, 34 bouts were played in this dangal. Second main bout went to Suraj of Amritsar, who beat Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal in Jammu while Murad Ali of Domana in Jammu won the third bout beating Mahavir of Haryana. In fourth bout, Chottu beat Hoshier Singh of Mahore. Other Results: Arjun of Jammu beat Rohit of Amritsar; Kala of Pahtankote beat Soffi of Domana; Surjeet Singh of Kalakote beat Baba of Domana.
Ransoo Dangal Committee members and technical officials, who helped for the conduct of the event included Kewal Krishan , Paul Chand, Bhagwan Singh, Romesh Chander Kholi, Karan Singh, Mohan Lal, Romesh Chander Sharma, Sansar Chand, Tilak Raj Kholi, Kapoor Singh, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd.), Sanjeev Sharma, Vijay Singh (Biju), Mohd Fareed, Ram Krishan, Abdul Rehman and Raj Hussain.
