ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 12: The National Conference led collation Government has failed to give satisfactory answers to various questions raised in the Legislative Council. Dharamvir Singh seeking number of street lights installed by various agencies in cities of Srinagar and Jammu was told that 15683 street lights have been installed in Srinagar by Srinagar Municipal Corporation and 29882 in Jammu City by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. Singh was not satisfied saying the figures were incorrect. Jahangir Hussain Mir sought details of cold storage in the State especially in Poonch. The Minister Incharge Horticulture, Ajay Sadhotra said that there was no provision for such activity at present. Showing his dissatisfaction over the reply, he said the concerned Minister should be there in the House to reply. "Not even the Chief Minister can give full details of the department that does not come under his portfolio", he said. ."For the Knowledge of the House I would like to mention that there are provisions for the cold storage Houses, not only in the State but in the district level as well," he added. On the very first day of the Legislative Council also, there was a question raised by Devinder Singh Rana, MLC, that how many Mobile schools for Nomads are being opened in the State, proposed by the Government and what will be the criterion for opening such schools? Firoze Khan, MoS Education replied, "There is no such proposal for the Mobile schools in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)." While expressing his dissatisfaction over the reply, Rana in turn informed the concerned Minister that the Chief Minister has proposed Mobile schools for Nomads, "and there was no question about the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan." To balance the situation Rana said, "I don't want to embarrass my friend; I just want the Government to speed up the process of opening of the Mobile schools for Nomads." In a written reply to the question raised by MLC Ajatshatru Singh in the Legislative Council, "whether it is a fact that Sidhra Golf Course is still incomplete although started in the year 2007, also in the absence of the administrative approval no time frame has been set up for completion. What is the escalated cost and loss to the Government? The Minister I/C Tourism stated that the execution on Sidhra Golf Course was started in the year 2007. The Administrative approval has been accorded at a cost of Rs. 37.39 crore. Rs. 29.27 crore have been released so far and utilized in full. The 2nd phase of up-gradation to 18 Holes Golf Course along with Club Building and other ancillary works is in full swing and target for completion by September, 2013 which will, however, depend on availability of funds. Minister further said, "there is no loss on account of cost escalation as the project is under execution within the sanctioned cost of Rs. 37.39 crore." In addition to this question Ajat Shatru Singh also asked about the encroachment of Golf Course land, but the Minister said that he is not aware of the Issue. |
