ET Plus Report JAMMU, Mar 17: Paying rich tributes to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan on his 123rd Birth Anniversary, the Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that contribution of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan in uniting Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and his philanthropic service to the society would always remain alive. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering of Mahajan Biradri at a Mahajan Parivar Milan function held at Mahajan Sabha at Gandhi Nagar, here today. Member Legislative Council, Devinder Singh Rana, Chief Patron Mahajan Sabha Jugal Mahajan, Ex-Mayor Kavinder Gupta, Chairman Citizen Co-Operative Bank Denesh Gupta, Chairman Mahajan Sabha Bal Krishen Gupta besides other prominent personalities of the Mahajan Biradri like K B Jandial, Vinod Mahajan, Dina Nath Mahajan, T R Gupta, K K Gupta, P C Gupta and Nariender Gupta were also present on the occasion. Bhalla said Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan played crucial role in advising Maharaja for taking decision regarding accession of J&K State with India and appealed to follow the path shown by him. He called upon the people to adopt the pathway shown by the great personality who always lived truthful life, worked hard and lend helping hand to the poor, needy and strengthened values of brotherhood for the upliftment of the society. Remembering Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, Member Legislative Council, Davinder Singh Rana apprised the gathering about the contribution of Justice Mahajan and appreciated the role of Justice Mahajan on the time of accession of J&K. He said that Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan is an intellectual and par excellence person. Rana appreciated the efforts put in by the Mahajan Sabha Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat for organizing such a grand Mahajan Parivar Milan function. He remarked that such functions play a pivotal role for the betterment of the society. Earlier, the function started with the recitation of Gaytri Mantra, it was followed by shardhanjilies to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, lighting Jyoti by the Bhalla and Rana. On the occasion, the Minister and MLC garlanded the portrait of Justice Mahajan. A colourful cultural programme was also organized by the Mahajan Sabha where a renowned Dogri Singer, Jeevan Sharma presented Dogri songs. Later, the Minister and MLC also felicitated the KAS, KPS, KCS officers of the Biradri and Gold Medalist which included Shipra Gupta, Dr. Monika Gupta, Mrs. Shewetambari Gupta, Tina Mahajan, Sahil Jandial, Saishte Mahajan, Akhil Langer, Karan Gupta, Anil Gupta, Sumiot Gupta, Sarvesh Kumar Gupta, Adarsh Pal Gupta, Akriti Mahajan and Ravi Rohmentra.
