KARGIL, Mar 17: Archery Club Baroo Tchok today lifted the 10th Sainik Vijay Archery Cup after they beat Taxi Union-A by a margin of two points in the final played at Beathang Archery Stadium, Shilikchey, here. It was man of the match, Mohd Abass Shoqi, who secured crucial five points to help Baroo Tchok to win the final. Baroo Tchok obtained 23 points as against 21 gained by the opponent Taxi Union. Mohsin Khan of the same winning team was adjudged man of the match for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament. The competition was organized by Sainik Sports Club Beathang Shilikchey in memory of the Kargil War Heroes. Acting Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Haji Ghulam Amir Kamran was the chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. District Youth Service and Sports Officer, Haji Mirza Hussain and Major Nitesh of the Indian Army were guests of honour. Speaking to the gathering of archery lovers, chief guest assured that the LAHDC will upgrade the existing Archery Stadium in near future. He further said that the present Council has sanctioned the Irrigational Canal of Shilikchey at a cost of Rs two crore. In the meantime, Councilor Poyen, Haji Ibrahim announced a grant of Rs 50,000 from his constituency fund for the upgradation of the Archery Stadium. Prominent among others present were Councilor Hardass Syed Razvi, president Sainik Vijay Club Beathang, Mohd Abass Khan and hundreds of archery lovers. |
