Militants strike again in broad day light
BSF convoy targeted, one killed

SRINAGAR, Mar 21: In yet another attack on security forces today, one Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed and three others were injured after suspected militants fired at a vehicle of the Border Security Forces at Gulshan Nagar bye pass in the outskirts of Srinagar this morning.
According to the police statements, unidentified militants fired upon BSF vehicle bearing registration number JK05/7615 of 8th Bn. A-Coy at Methain By-pass in which two constables namely Hem Singh belt no. 95455235 and Krishen Kalita belt no. 94007147 got critically injured. Both the injured were shifted to 92 Base camp Hospital Srinagar for treatment. The latter, however, succumbed to his injures in the hospital. A case has been registered in this regard and searches have been started to nab the killers.
According to the details received in this regard the vehicle which came under the attack of suspected militants was on its way to Pantha-chowk Srinagar camp of the BSF and when the convoy reached near Gulshan Nagar on the bypass road, militants fired upon it. Pertinent to mention here that this is the second attack of militants on security forces in broad day light in 10 days in Srinagar and Jammu Kashmir Police has already confirmed the presence of new faces of militants in Kashmir who according to the Police actually had succeeded to cross over the Line of Control during the months of January and February.
Earlier, on March 13, a Fidayeen squad attacked Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers in Bemina area of the city in which Five CRPF troopers and two attacking militants were killed.
