| Militancy not over, but no need to get alarmed: DGP on Nowgam attack | | | Saahil Suhail Anantnag, Mar 21: While admitting that militancy had not vanished from the valley, Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad on Thursday said that there is no need to get alarmed in wake of recent suicide militant attacks. Interacting with media on the sidelines of a function, Director General of Police said that there is no need to get alarmed in wake of recent militant attacks; however he said that attacks are definitely a threat for security forces that needs to be tackled. "There is no need to get alarmed but series of incidents are definitely a threat we will tackle it according to the specific information we get from intelligence agencies. Militancy has not gone from the valley and due to the preoccupation of security forces with other things militants get succeed however we have other options to tackle them." DGP said, over reacting to a situations is sometimes not good and we have not reached to zero incident situation. When asked that the militants 'shoot and flee' strategy, he said "the strategy isn't new they does it every year and as i told you that due to the preoccupation of security forces these incidents took place." On possible presence of fidayeen militants in the valley, he said that they have no such kind of specific information; however he said that in Bemina attack they have killed two attackers while one has been arrested. On Sopore Killing, DGP said that investigation is under way and the killers will be booked very soon. He said that the separatist leaders will be realised once the situation improves in the valley. |
