| Pak poll may push up violence in J&K | | | ET Plus Report
Jammu, Mar 21 : If reports from across the LOC are to be relied, it has been come to fore that the handlers of militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir, are likely to push up the level of subversive violence in the state in a bid to utilize the Kashmir issue for garnering peoples' support for the PPP led government. According to these reports, various political leaders and fundamentalists may utilize the Kashmir card in their pre-poll campaign. Reports said the Pakistan People' Party, which headed the first ever civilian Government that completed its full term, has not been able to deliver its goods with the result it has earned ire of a large section of voters. Consequently, the main political party and other opposition units may try to cash on the violence in Kashmir to garner voters support. These fears have mounted in Jammu and Kashmir after the announcement in Islamabad that the next electio ns were to be held in middle of May. Pakistan's next general election, that will mark the first ever transfer of power from an elected government to another in the country's chequered democratic history, will be held on May 11. The troops guarding the LOC and the IB have been directed to upgrade border management for preventing militants from crossing into Jammu and Kashmir. Troops have been told to ensure zero ingress level which was key to peace in Kashmir. |
