| Sham inspects work on Ranbir canal, asks to expedite pace of work | | Slaps fine on XEn, AEE for poor functioning | | et plus report JAMMU, Mar 21: To ensure that irrigation water reaches at the tail ends, the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today conducted an extensive tour of R S Pura and Bishnah areas and inspected the on-going renovation cum repair works on the historic Ranbir Canal and its sub channels. MLA R S Pura, Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, MLA Bishnah, Ashwani Sharma, Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, K K Gupta, Chief Engineer, RTIC, V K Badyal, Executive Engineer, Kuldeep Magotra, SDM R S Pura, Suraj Rakwal and other officers of the department accompanied the minister during his inspection visit. The Minister inspected the entire stretch of Ranbir canal and its distributaries right from Jeevan Nagar Jammu to tail end points of R.S Pura and Bishnah Tehsils. While expressing satisfaction over the progress, the Minister directed the engineers to speed up further the pace and complete the di-silting process so that the water is released in the canal at the earliest. He also directed the officers to make judicious use of funds and maintain the quality of works. The Minister also inspected the PHE and Irrigation stations in the twin Tehsils and directed the concerned to ensure work culture and proper upkeep of Government assets. In view of the poor maintenance of PHE reservoir at village Kotla Camp (Krewa) falling under the jurisdiction of PHE Division, Samba, the Minister imposed a fine of Rs. 5000/- each on concerned Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer and called their explanation as well. En-route, the Minister also interacted with the locals and listened to their problems related to drinking water and irrigation facilities. He issued on-the spot instructions to the concerned officers to address the problems on priority. |
