Kichloo visits earthquake hit Bhaderwah, Gandoh
Assesses damages, meets injured at SDH Bhaderwah

DODA: Minister of State for Home, Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Pardeep Gupta today visited Bhaderwah and Gandoh Tehsils to assess the damages caused due to the earthquake that shook the area yesterday.
The Minister, leading a high level team of officers inspected damages caused to Government and private buildings and also met with injured admitted in New Sub- District Hospital Bhaderwah. He interacted with the injured being treated in the hospital and inquired about the healthcare facilities being provided to them.
Member Legislative Council (MLC) Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta was also present.
The Minister also went around the Hospital and inspected the damages caused to the SDH hospital building which has developed some cracks on the walls and suffered damage to the ceiling.
Expressing dismay over the poor quality of construction, the Minster said that an inquiry would be ordered to fix the responsibility and those found guilty would be dealt under law.
Mr Kichloo also directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to take up the matter of posting of Doctors in the area with Commissioner Secretary Health.
The Minister also convened a meeting of the Officers and the civil society members and said that there was no need to panic at all as the Government is fully aware of the situation and all necessary help and assistance will be provided to the affected people,
“Disaster Management Teams have been activated in the entire region” he said adding that DDC Doda has constituted ten teams to monitor the situation and assess the damages.
Block level teams would also be constituted to conduct a detailed survey to ascertain the damages, he said and asked the administration to reach out to the affected people with adequate relief. He said there was need to create awareness among the people of the region regarding the measures and precautions to be taken during such type of Natural calamities to minimize the loss of life and property. He said people need to take technical advice while constructing their houses as the area falls under active seismic zone.
The Minister also asked the people not to pay attention to the rumors about further quakes in the region as there was no such apparatus available which can predict the actual time and location of quake.
MLC Bhaderwah Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta and Divisional Commissioner Jammu also impressed upon the people to remain calm and pay no heed to the rumors and take precautionary measures.
Later, the Minister alongwith MLC, Divisional Commissioner and DDC Doda Mr. Mubarak Singh visited interior parts of the Bhaderwah town and interacted with the people. They assured the people that all sort of assistance and relief will be provided to them by the Government.
