| Wani asks officers to camp at quake hit areas, be prompt in service deliverance | | | Early Times REport
Jammu, May 2: Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani, on Thursday directed the officers of various departments to camp at Doda and personally visit all quake hit areas in Bhadarwah, Gandoh, Thathri and Kishtwar for prompt deliverance of services to the affected people. The Minister exhorted upon all the officers to be on duty with added punctuality and efficiency besides asking the concerned to cancel the leaves of all employees so that the relief and rescue measures do not suffer. “No officer will leave his station in any case and strict action would be initiated against the irresponsible and erring employees”, he maintained. He emphasized the officers to dedicate themselves completely towards relief and restoration works in the quake hit parts as besides officials it also becomes our moral duty to serve the humanity in this hour of distress. The Minister directed the officers to take up every step to provide succor to affected people of the district which has suffered massive damage for being very close to the epicenter. The restoration works have already been started with the deployment of heavy machinery of Mechanical Engineering Department besides adequate manpower is working round the clock for rehabilitation works and restoration of damaged infrastructure including roads, bridges and buildings. Wani asked R&B officers to work in close coordination with revenue department for making assessment of damages caused to private houses and other commercial buildings so that necessary compensation could be provided to the affected under Natural Calamity Fund. He asked MD JKPCC to closely monitor restoration works on government buildings which have suffered minor and major damages besides instructing Chief Engineers R&B and PMGSY to personally visit far flung affected areas to monitor restoration works on roads and buildings besides landslide clearance. |
