Vikar for speeding up work on polytechnics, ITIs

SRINAGAR: The Minister of State for Technical Education, Power Mr. Vikar Rasool has said that keeping pace with modern trends, the State Government has taken up a massive project of constructing polytechnics in length and breadth of the State to make the youth of the State skilled professionals.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of ongoing work on various new polytechnics being constructed across the State.
He asked the officers to speed up the work on under construction polytechnics so that the work is completed within shortest possible time for augmenting the infrastructure of technical education
Secretary Technical Education Mr. Parvez Malik, Director Technical Education, Mr. J P Singh, Chief Engineers Jammu/Kashmir, Mr. Tahseen Mustafa, Mr. Mushtaq Lone and other senior officers of the department and JKPCC were present in the meeting.
The meeting was told that an amount of Rs. 135.48 crore has been released by the Central Government for constructing 18 polytechnics in the State.
The Minister directed the officers to work in close coordination and synergize their efforts for completing the work on these polytechnics as soon as possible so that the students living in rural and far-flung areas get the requisite technical/vocational trainings.
Mr. Vikar said that imparting the technical skills to the students, the menace of unemployment can also be tackled as these trained youth can effectively set up their own entrepreneurial units and contribute their bit in the socio-economic upliftment of their respective areas.
The Minister said that the government has identified certain sectors as vital sectors in which education forms one of the important unit and every effort is being made to augment it by creating quality infrastructure and providing better educational facilities both regular as well as vocational.
