Kishtwar, July 30: Heavy rains today created havoc in many parts of Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas, causing massive damages to public property and business units situated along road stretch from Malipath to Sangrabata. The rain water entered into several residential houses and shops, located at bus stand Kishtwar, Shaheedi Road Kishtwar and Sangrabata, resulting into loss of property. As soon as the rain stopped large number of people held protest at bus stand, Sangrabata and Shaheedi Road against the GREF authorities holding them responsible for ill maintenance of road and drainage all along the National Highway. DDC assured the agitating people that he would took up the matter with the senior officers of GREF for blacktopping of the road as well as construction of proper drain. Later GREF officials put their men and machinery into service for clearance of garbage from city drains.
