JAMMU, July 30: Within minutes of Congress Working Committee (CWC) announcing separate Telangana state, Kashmiri politicians have begun feeling the pain of Jammu and Ladakh regions seeking parity with Kashmir region and if the same is not possible; demand for separate state is another worrisome proposition for them.
They have begun debating about the possible consequence of Telangana leading to a new inter-state conflict in Jammu and Kashmir as Ladakh Hill development council is also demanding separate state for Ladakh region of the state. There are also voices in Jammu which strongly believe that a separate state is the best answer to regional disparity.
According to the reports, ruling united progressive alliance (UPA) which today unanimously passed a resolution for creation of separate Telangana state though formal announcement is yet to be made, however according to the politicians of Kashmir, formation of Telangana can prove hazardous for the regional harmony and cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir as Ladakh division of the state is among the next 15 states of India which also demands separate states for themselves.
Expressing his displeasure over the division of Andhra Pradesh to create another state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that formation of separate state can give birth to a dangerous trend in the country as the decision to create a new state out a state is based on agitations of the people only.
While rejecting such moves, Chief Minister said that other states like Jammu and Kashmir play a vital role in being one state with diversity of culture and languages and now creating new states n the basis of agitations of the people of a particular area and not on the basis of any kind recommendation of states is going to be a dangerous trend.
Chief Minister also said that by doing so, we are sending a message out rightly that if people can agitate they can easily get separate state. State secretary of Communist party of India (Marxist) M.Y.Tarigami said that formation of separate Telangana is likely to ignite a wave of conflict and discomfort in a state which is battling diverse conflicts.
Talking to Early times plus, Tarigami said that not only his party at all India level but he himself has always opposed any such move keeping in view the aftermath of formation of one state in the country only on the bases of few things would be like a neglected spark which if not checked can burn the historical and cultural ethos of a state like Jammu and Kashmir within no time.
Trigram added in our state people from regions like Ladakh who are waiting for any such move by the government can make it an issue and such an issue would be dangerous for the integral unity of Jammu and Kashmir. According to people of Ladakh, formation of state based on Telangana pattern is their long pending demand like people of many other statesof india and they believe that their demand is based on certain decisive facts which include geographical location of the area, language, religion, culture and economic resources as well.
As per the official accounts, Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir is among 15 other regions of India demanding separate state. These include Bodoland of Assam,Dimaraji of Assam,Gorkhaland of Assam, kongunadu of Tamilnadu, viderbha of Maharashtra, saurashtra of Gujrat, Kukiland of Manipur, Coorg of Karnataka, Bundelkhand of Uttar Pradesh,Mithila of Bihar, Purvanchal of Uttar Pradesh,Tulunadu of Karnataka, Vindhya Pradesh of Madhya Pradesh and Harit Pradesh of Uttar Pradesh.
