JAMMU, July 30: The unemployed youth of state will have to wait further as the advertisement of 581 posts of Lecturers (10+2) is likely to face more delay as Education department has failed to reply queries, raised by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
Sources informed Early Times that 581 posts of lecturers (10+2) in various disciplines were forwarded by School Education department to JKPSC a couple of months back but so far advertisement has not been done.
"The PSC had conveyed to School Education department to amend their recruitment rules in the backdrop of cabinet order, making written test compulsory to fill any post in any department", sources said.
They further said that earlier for filling the posts of 10+2 lecturers, PSC had been conducting only screening test of the candidates who had not qualified NET/SLET/PHD while the candidates who qualified NET/SLET/PHD were exempted from screening test.
"The marks obtained by candidates in the screening tests were not given any weightage in the interview but after the issuance of cabinet order, the written test has been made compulsory", sources said.
Now all the eligible candidates including those who have qualified NET/SLET/PHD have to take written test and the written test would also hold weightage, sources said, adding that it was the responsibility of Education department to amend the recruitment rules.
"The Education department has to amend recruitment rules, allocating marks to written test, interview, NET/SLET/PHD besides the department is also to prepare syllabus for various subjects", sources said.
They further informed that around six months back the PSC authorities had conveyed to Education department to amend the rules, but so far nothing has been done, jeopardizing the advertisement of all posts of +2 lecturers.
An official pleading anonymity said that recently a meeting between officials of Education department and PSC was chaired by Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey to break the logjam and some important decisions were taken in the meeting, but so far no headway has been achieved so far.
"It was decided in the meeting that the candidates who have qualified NET/SLET/ PHD will have to appear in written tests while weightage will also be given to NET/SLET/PHD", sources said, adding that it was now upon the school education department to amend their rules so that advertisements should be done without any further delay.
An official pleading anonymity said that the process would take couple of months more as the amendment in recruitment rules and making syllabus for all subjects was a hectic exercise.
