| MJR 47 protests denial of invitation to PSC meeting | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 30: Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR 47) from PoK, puts on record its strong protest on being excluded from the meeting being held by Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) of MHA in New Delhi to discuss migrants and refugees' issues. In a press statement issued here today, the MJR 47 said that for Valley migrants the invitation has been extended to all representative bodies and that too in number which seems to have hardly any justification. It is shocking to note that no other genuine organization of 1947 POK refugees viz MJR 47 from PoK, Sharnarthi Action committee, POK DP's Front, SOS International and other 1947,65,71 Refugee Organizations have been called for discussion. How can the PSC discuss the issues and grievances of 1947 PoK Refugees without listening to their representative bodies? The realese further said that the Parliament Standing Committee is an official organ of the Parliament to listen to the aggrieved and recommend solutions for their problems. If PSC is reviewing on the 137th Report on rehabilitation of J&K Migrants then there is another 62nd Report of Rajya Sabha Petitions Committee dated 13th June, 1980 on Rehabilitation of Displaced Person's/Refugees who migrated from POK in 1947, lying pending for action taken for the last 33years which should also have been taken up in this meeting. We strongly lodge our protest with the PSC for the discriminatory , biased and unjustified approach to recommend bonanza-benefits to one section only while keeping other more than 12 lakh distressed refugees of 1947 from POK starving and looking upto the sky for the last 67 years for justice. |
