| Troops along LoC put on alert following increase in ingress bids | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 30: Both Indian troops, guarding the Line of Control (LoC) and the BSF, deployed on the IB, in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert following reports that Pakistan Army and other agencies were lending help to various groups of militants in infiltrating into the state. Official sources said that yesterday's determined bid by a groups of militants to sneak into Kashmir and by another group to cross into the Jammu sector confirmed that agencies across the border had brought large number of militants on the launch pads. And the Pakistan Army personnel were trying to carve out a, ingress passage for them and that has been one of the reasons for the troops to resort to ceasefire violations. Though two infiltrators, one in Keran sector and another in Akhnoor sector had been eliminated by the Indian border guards there are fears that a small number of infiltrators may have sneaked into the state. It is in this connection that the BSF and the Army have been asked to step up their anti-ingress operations. They have been advised to carry out massive search operations in and around the spot from where infiltration bid had been foiled to ensure that no militant had managed to go into hiding. Sources said that both troops and the BSF have been asked to deploy additional companies of forces so that all the villages close to the border were sanitized against infiltrators. According to these sources, Pakistan Army authorities were trying to emulate the Chinese troops that have been carrying out incursion in Ladakh. However, the sources explained that when compared to Chinese incursion in Ladakh the infiltration bids by militants from across Pakistan and occupied Kashmir had serious dimensions. It is because once Pak trained militants sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir they would escalate the level of violence in the state. As far as the Chinese incursion was concerned it was part of Beijing's move to compel New Delhi to resolve the border dispute. In addition to this the Chinese incursion was aimed at testing the strength and response of the Indian troops. It was a limited intrusion but as far as militant ingress from Pakistan was concerned it had serious ramifications. |
