Saifco Lions, Simula Bulls win ties in JKCPL

JAMMU, July 30: Saifco Lions and Simula Bulls won their respective matches to strengthen their position in the ongoing J&K Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) T20 Tournament at MA Stadium, here today.
In the first match of the day, Saifco Lions outplayed Jumboo Gladiators by four wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, Jumboo Gladiators bowled out for 100 runs in 18.5 overs. Parveen Singh and Sandeep Raj were main scorers with 32 and 24 runs in their respective accounts.
Umar Alam emerged as most successful bowler from Saifco Lions with three wickets while Ijaz Dar took two. Rohit Sharma, Suhail Andaleeb and Mehraj shared apiece each.
In reply, Saifco Lions attained the goal making 101 runs in 19.2 overs for six wickets. Majid remained top scorer with 35 runs while Fayaz Hazari and Ijaz Dar (not out) contributed 14 and 17 runs respectively.
Raman Datta took three wickets from Jumboo Gladiators, followed by Kuldeep Kumar, Sandeep Raj and Somay Jain, who shared apiece each. Umar Alam was adjudged man of the match while Majid bagged prize for maximum sixes.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Simula Bulls had narrow escape against Khazir Royal after they beat latter by two runs.
Earlier, batting first, Simula bulls set a target of 160 runs for four wickets with Hardeep Singh (58 off 50 balls) being top scorer. Yazir made 39 runs off 23 balls while Dhruv Mahajan contributed 32-balll 41 runs. From Khazir Royals, Arshid Sheikh, Jaleel Bhat, Vijay and Manzoor Elahi took one wicket each.
Later, Khazir Royals bowled out two runs short of the opponent total at 158. Sajad Sofi played fine innings of 34-ball 55 runs but could not guide his side to win. Imran Haroon and Adil Khalil added 29 and 30 runs respectively. Sameer Khajuria and Hardeep Singh took three wickets each while Hilal Rather bagged two. For his all round performance, Hardeep Singh was obvious choice for the man of the match title. The prize for maximum sixes went to Adil Khalil.
