SRINAGAR, July 30: Having the experience of organizing such an event twice earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been entrusted with the task to host 17th All India Police Golf Tournament this time at world famous Royal Spring Golf Course, here in the second week of October. Since the event is meant exclusively for the Gazetted Officers (GOs), around 100 such individuals, representing 26 State and Central Police organizations of the country, would be participating in this three-day competition starting from October 8. To look into various arrangements and also to assign duties to the senior officials by way of setting of different committees, the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad to chaired a high level meeting at Armed Police Headquarters here today. Addressing the meeting, the DGP disclosed that J&K Police was hosting the national event for the third time with earlier two editions being in Srinagar in 2002 and 2005. The inaugural event held at Shillong in October 1996 and the 16th edition took lace in Haryana. The State Police Chief added that the 11th All India Police Golf Championship, held in 2007 in Punjab, was lifted by the team of J&K Police. He said that the organization has been hosting various national sports events in different disciplines including All India Police Football Championship, All India Police Wrestling Cluster and National Athletic Meet. All these national championships are held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board. To ensure arrangements for the prestigious tournament, various committees were constituted in the meeting and the required arrangements were discussed. Lodging and boarding arrangements for the guest players were discussed in the meeting and it was decided that convenient accommodation would be provided to the visiting players and the management. The DGP stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and utilize previous experiences for making the event a success. He said that the event should be given proper publicity inviting the golf lovers to witness the competition between national level players. Earlier, the ADGP (Armed), S M Sahai, who is organising secretary of the event, through a power point presentation, apprised the high level meeting about the details and the required arrangements for the tournament. He also sought suggestions from the participants to put in place the arrangements in a befitting manner. Among others present in the meetings were ADsGP, PL Gupta and Dilbag Singh, IsGP, Dr. B Srinivas, HK Lohia, Deepak Kumar, Rauf-ul-Hassan, SJM Geelani, AG Mir, Farooq Khan, Muneer Ahmed Khan and SS Khandre, DIsGP, AS Bali, Garib Dass, AK Atri, Abdul Hamid, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, MM Sadiq and SP Altaf Ahmed Khan. |
