Rajouri shuts to Ravi Kant's demise

Rajouri, July 31 : Various Hindu organisations , beopar mandals, social and religious organisations today observed a complete bandh in Rajouri district against the alleged killing of a Amar Nath pilgrim from Sunderbani in stone peltinng in Awantipura in Kashmir. Ravi Kant Sharma, a poor rehri vendor and father of three children had gone to pay obeisance at Amar Nath cave in Kashmir. On way back to Rajouri a stone hit him on the head when he was caught between security forces and protestors near Awantipura. The protest was organized by the local people against alleged desecration of Quran followed by violent clashes in which four persons were killed by the security forces. Police shifted the injured Ravi Kant to a hospital at Shopian from he was referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and since then he was on ventilator struggling for life. On Tuesday Ravi succumbed to his injuries and as the news of death reached at Rajouri and Sunderbani people closed their shops and blocked Jammu -Poonch highway at Sunderbani. Leaders of various Hindu organizations , members of beopar mandal and social and religious organization a massive protest at Sunderbani and Rajouri. They were urging the government to grant Rs10 lakh compensation, job to his kin and home for the poor family.
The deceased belonged to BPL category and was living in a rented mud house in Sunderbani town. On Tuesday Chief Minister had announced Rs 2 lak for the poor family. A complete bandh was observed today in the district and keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter government rushed Ajay Sadhotra and Shabir Khan , Health Minister along with Rajesh Kumar ,IPS, IGP, Jammu to Sunderbani and handed over the cheque of Rs5 lakh and a government job for the deceased son. FC Bhagat , DDC rajouri said that it has also been decided that the district administration after consultation shall provide a plot of 10 marals to the family and also construct rooms under Indira Awas Yojna. Meanwhile Puspinder Gupta , senior congress leader and member state executive has expressed satisfaction over the government decision and thanked Madan Lal Sharma, MP, S habir Khan , Health Ministerand Sham Lal Sharma, PHE Minister for taking personnel interest for suitable compensation for the kins of poor deceased Ravi Kant.
Meanwhile Senior BJP leaders Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Yogesh Gupta; VHP leaders Sat Pal Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi; Tara Chand and Karan Thakur , Bajrang Dal leaders, have demanded action against those involved in the killing of Ravi Kant and were also present during the cremation at Sunderbani.
