Sports Reporter JAMMU, Sept 8: Former president of Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association (JKHA), Narinder Batra has been unanimously elected as first president of the Hockey Jammu and Kashmir in its maiden general body meeting held at ASCOMS here today. Existing incharge secretary of Hockey J&K, Romal Singh too was unanimous choice for the post of general secretary among members present. The elected body will remain in the office for a term of four years. Sheikh Mohd Maqbool and Jaswant Singh have been made senior vice presidents while Rajinder Singh will act as treasurer of Hockey J&K. Sham Lal Sharma, Ranbir Singh, Prof Sarla Kohli and Asima Ali as also Achint Kour have been nominated for the post of vice presidents. Gurdeep Singh and Jagjeet Koul have been made joint secretaries while Gurdeep Singh Bakshi shall act as secretary. Manjit Singh Reen and Asha Rani were unanimously elected as resident secretaries. Those nominated to the executive committee included Ramanjeet Kour, Rupa Kumari, Charanjit Singh, Tejinder Singh, Ravi Raj Singh, Mushtaq Kushey and Sukhdev Singh. The election was conducted by senior member, V K Kohli in the capacity of Returning Officer. While Rajeev Mehta was nominee from Hockey India, Prof Ashutosh Sharma was observer from J&K Olympic Association. Ranjit Kalra was nominated as observer by the J&K State Sports Council. |
