Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: Why is chief minister still not coming forward and appreciating the achievement of Jammu boy Anmol Jaswal and Palak Kour, who both have made Jammu proud by their achievements. The Jammu boy Anmol Jaswal, became the finalist of singing reality show Indian Idol junior and got appreciation from all over but chief minister Omar Abdullah didn’t utter a word in his praise. The J&K chief minister gets time to listen to the music of German performer Zubin Mehta, but he is not concerned about achievement of this singer, who became became a household in the country. Similarly, on the other hand, Palak Kour, a gymnast from Jammu represented India at world rhythmic gymnastics championship as only two girls from whole India, one from J&K and another from Maharashtra were selected from India. Neither chief minister nor any of his ministers, including the minister for sports, came forward to laud her. Now, when both of them, Anmol and Palak are back in town, chief minister hasn’t uttered a word about them. A minister and few non-government organisations felicitated Anmol, but on larger scale, they have been ignored. It is the time for people of Jammu to raise their voice against such kind of discrimination, which can have impact on other budding stars, who want to excel in any field, whether singing, sports, education or any other field. It is the role of every leader to support local talent but this is not happening in Jammu and Kashmir. Though, Kashmir based artists, sportspersons and others get appreciation and support from their leaders including the chief minister, but Jammu boys and girls are being suppressed. Now, it is up to civil society of Jammu to decide as what should be the future plan to deal with such kind of atmosphere so that local talent is not wasted. Despite the fact that chief minister is not taking interest in Jammu talent, there is a hope with people of Jammu that whole India is behind them and can do wonders in future. |
