Jammu, Sep 8: Increase in offences against women like rapes, female feticide, bride burning, acid throwing and all others serious offences like cyber crime, traffic violations, drug peddling beside others will continue unless and until the law abiding citizens and communities will unite, and a strong public opinion is created against all sorts of crimes. This was stated by Rameshwar Singh Jamwal, President Criminologists Society (CS) in a programme under Project SAFE J&K which was organized at Rajput Sabha J&K and was attended by all sections of society including various organization. Speaking on the occasion, Jamwal said that there was an urgent need for the civil society groups and religious preachers to help them in controlling the menace otherwise they would lose their moral right to criticize anybody if such incidents occur. He suggested various measures including holding of similar programmes in their respective Biradari meetings, training of volunteers, educating youngsters and then holding of a mega event in Jammu where thousands of children will be given oath to follow law and legal norms. Balbir Singh Manhas, Advocate and Advisor of society said that the Drugs use has increased manifold and is spoiling the communities and country and urged civil society to raise its voice against all aberrations. Madan Baru, Sr. Advocate called upon religious preachers to spead this message in religious congregations. Rakeshwar Singh Durswal, General Secretary made an impassioned appeal to all participants to unite at one platform to save society. |
