JAMMU, Sept 8: Two children washed away in river Chenab in a mishap that took place on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here today. According to reports, a couple wounded critically and their two children were washed away in Chenab river when the car in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into the mighty river at Nihar area of Ramban district, this afternoon. According to the police, the family members were heading towards Srinagar from Jammu, when driver of the Alto car lost control over it while negotiating a sharp curve on reaching Nihar. As a result, police said, the car plunged into the river in which two children were washed away, while the couple was saved by the rescue teams. The injured were identified as Karan Singh son of Makhan Singh and Satwant Singh both residents of Model Town, Jammu. Police said that their son namely Hardev Singh and daughter namely Hardeep Kour were washed away in Chenab river. As soon as the mishap occurred, police launched a rescue operation and shifted wounded persons to the hospital for treatment here in Jammu, while searches for the drowned real brother and sister were started.A case in this regard was registered and investigation in the case is on. |
