Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 25: Extending full support to Jammu University students observing protest for the last 6 days outside Jammu University, students of MAM College today staged protest demonstration against the Jammu University authorities for its adamant attitude. Under the banner of Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association (GBSWA) large number of students assembled at the main gate of College and staged protest amid raising slogans against Jammu University authorities. The college administration tried their best to foil the attempt of students to stage protest but failed to do so. Addressing the protesters, president of GBSWA Asif Choudhary lashed out at JU authorities and said that the establishment of Gojri and Pahari Research Center was the demand of under privileged sections of society. "Gujjars and Paharis comprises around 40 Lakh of state population but not any institution or department has been opened so far for the promotion of their languages. It was for the first time the demand was raised by GBSWA but authorities slapped false cases against the protesters and even rusticated all protesters, which showed that J&K government was against Gujjars and Paharis", he said.
Vice president Munir Anjum said that VC has been adopting delaying tactics to stop the underprivileged sections to come in political spectrum but his designs would not be accomplished. "Our brothers are sisters are on fast unto death strike for the last 6 days but no authority has take care of us, which shows that there is no democracy in J&K and there is no space of under privileged section", he said, adding that they would continue their protest and threatened to launch massive agitation across 10 districts of state. Imtiaz, Shabir Hussian, Pardeep Saini, Rafiq Choudhary, Monu, Asir, Nasir, Irfan, Imran beside others were among the protesters.
